In 1949 the parish community of St. John’s actively campaigned to raise funds to build St. John Catholic School. The Silva family donated nearly 1/3 acre of property, which would be the site for St. John Catholic School. The school opened in September 1952 under the Sisters of the Presentation from San Francisco, starting with grades 1-3. The second phase, comprising of four more classrooms, was added to the main building in 1957. Finally, in 1959, a wing extension was added, completing St. John Catholic School with 16 classrooms. During the 1960s, there were 12 Sisters of the Presentation on the school staff., continuing the legacy of Nano Nagle. Kindergarten was added in 1978, and the School Extension Program (SEP) began in 1985 to support working families. In 2006, a Pre-Kindergarten (which eventually evolved into our TK class) was introduced.
Today, St. John Catholic School serves students in grades TK-8, drawing families from surrounding communities to share in its rich tradition and Shamrock spirit.
