Exceptional Needs
A learning specialist is on staff to work with teachers in assessing and accommodating students with special learning needs in early elementary grades. With guidance and support from the Learning Support Coordinator, teachers plan and implement special teaching strategies to help all students be successful. Students who need extra help may work individually with resource team members whose primary focus is to support students in the process of becoming more productive learners.
Students with learning differences may also receive accommodations as determined by test results, physician reports, etc. Outside the standard classroom environment, the learning specialist can evaluate students at the classroom teachers’ request. In conjunction with the teacher, they help implement individualized programs to fit the learning needs of each student.
Teachers and support staff work as a team to ensure that each student has a positive, successful learning experience.
